A beautiful family home with stunning period features - their kitchen was not practical for the owners. They were looking for a full renovation and were open to ideas.

The customers wanted to honour the history of the house and chose natural tones and materials - painted traditional timber doors and solid stone worktops. We made sure to keep the original features of the house intact - the cooking hearth, the ceiling beams, the door and window pelmets.

During the initial consultation we suggested expanding the kitchen in to the larder dining room space and creating a double island layout. One area primarily for cooking and messiness, and the other a family style island with breakfast bar. This involved rerouting plumbing through concrete floors, building the new kitchen space around period features, and even removing a solid stone wall to allow the more open plan space.

Really pleased with this one, can’t wait to get final images!

Wideopen

The kitchen was cramped and the dining space was oversized

Before

By introducing a second island, we were able to create a space away from the cooking area to be sociable in. TWO dishwashers and a second sink in the cooking area helps keep the space clean. Tongue and groove panelling and the corbels above the range cooker suit the property style.

Design

We haven’t been back to see the space painted or furnished yet, but we last visited when the beautiful worktops were put in. The customers are clearly making use of their improved kitchen already!

Different flooring and tiles were chosen as the project progressed, which gives the property an even more traditional feel.
